Bright Red Triangle were delighted to host the first Start Up Huddle in collaboration with the Scottish Business Network and the Global Entrepreneurship Network. This event encourages people to connect with fellow entrepreneurs in the city, to grow networks, learn and share insights. Often business is considered to be highly competitive, and while there certainly are elements of this, often the best route to success is in championing your community and the relationships you build with likeminded people.
Chair of SBN, Russell Dalgleish, hosted the evening, bring the group of 30 keen minds to discuss the challenges they have faced, and invite the room to share any advice they may have, or connections they can facilitate that may help. This gave the room the opportunity to see the value of bouncing ideas around a room, even if the room are strangers. The group looked at challenges related to recruitment, fundraising, business development, research, amongst others, and there was no shortage of feedback. People across the community were able to offer advice based on past experiences, or on similar challenges they have had to overcome, as well as offering to make introductions to potential interested third parties.
There was a very pleasant atmosphere, people felt comfortable sharing these perceived vulnerabilities, and were championed for doing so. There were a great many genuine connections made in this short evening event, and we're delighted that it has kicked off the series with such success - the true mark is that our refreshments were barely touched as people were too busy talking!
The next session takes place on September 27th, again at the BRT studio, and we have already had a flurry of sign ups, so make sure you register your interest here to guarantee a spot: Edinburgh Startup Huddle Meetup Tickets, Thu 27 Sep 2022 at 17:30
