The SDG5 Living Lab, a pioneering initiative born from the partnership between Edinburgh Napier University and Women's Enterprise Scotland, is committed to advancing Sustainable Development Goal 5 - Gender Equality.
Our mission is to advance Sustainable Development Goal 5 – Gender Equality, by fostering a supportive environment for women within our Edinburgh Napier community. Through cross-departmental research and external partnerships, we aim to address critical areas such as women's leadership, entrepreneurship, governance, STEM, and more.
We are dedicated to cultivating an inclusive environment where women entrepreneurs thrive, offering cutting-edge resources, tailored training, and transformative opportunities. Join us on our journey towards a future where women's empowerment knows no bounds.
Courses
Trailblazers: Start up skills for women and gender minorities
Dream of starting a business, making a difference, or sharpening your entrepreneurial edge? Let this course be your launchpad. Be guided by specialists, inspired by entrepreneurial women, all whilst developing your skills in establishing a business or community venture.
The course is delivered by certified gender-aware advisors and provides a safe space to explore your knowledge and ideas, and plan where you want to go next.
Leadership Course - first cohort finished in Sept 2024
The Leadership course is designed to assist women to grow their leadership skills, progress their careers and play their part in the University achieving sustainable growth. The training will help participants increase their confidence in leadership by enabling them to strategically analyse their role against the University vision.
Support will be provided to develop, implement and evaluate strategies to achieve University goals using models and tools.
First Startup Huddle for women and non-binary people was hosted in July 2024
We are hosting the first Startup Huddle for women - a global first. We are already hosts to the Edinburgh chapter of the Global Entrepreneurship Network's Startup Huddles and look forward to exploring ways to support peer learning for women and non-binary people.
