Three days, a melting pot of innovation, and a burst of creativity—the BRT Innovation Challenge brought together bright minds from Edinburgh Napier University, the APE Programme at the Strascheg Center for Entrepreneurship gGmbH in Munich, and a dash of inventive spirit, all under the roof.
Day 1: Exploring Tomorrow’s Cuisine and Edinburgh's Culinary Delights
The event commenced with a deep dive into the future of food. Participants engaged in tasting sessions featuring unconventional foods—space ice cream sandwiches, flavored mealworms and crickets, seaweed, and 3D printed food. The aim was to ignite creativity and reimagine the potential of our dining experiences.
In the afternoon, the groups set out to explore Edinburgh's rich food scene. This excursion wasn't just about discovering the city but also delving into Scottish hospitality and the local food industry. Guided tours and interactions provided invaluable insights into Scotland's culinary heritage and the vibrant hospitality culture. This immersive experience fostered a deeper understanding of the intersection between culture, cuisine, and innovation.
As the day drew to a close, the groups returned, buzzing with newfound inspiration drawn from the city's culinary diversity and Scottish hospitality. The exploration not only broadened their horizons but also fueled their creativity for the challenges ahead.
Day 2: Crafting Yogurt Experiences and Prototyping
Day 2 at the BRT Innovation Bootcamp was a whirlwind of creativity and excitement! The morning began with an unconventional challenge—participants found themselves at the center stage, presenting their yogurt-eating techniques to a curious audience. This unique start set the tone for an innovative day ahead! The task at hand: crafting tailored yogurt experiences for globally recognised brands like Mercedes, Chanel, Patagonia, Disney, EasyJet, Nike, and Apple! 🥄✨
As the yogurt challenge wrapped up, the focus shifted towards honing the art of prototyping. Under the guidance of Nick, teams delved into the world of prototyping, learning the essential techniques to bring their visionary ideas to life. It was a crucial step setting the stage for tomorrow's presentations—a pivotal moment to showcase their creative solutions.
The evening was set ablaze with Bright Red Sparks! It was a platform for our Napier students, staff, and alumni to shine alongside our Munich cohort. The room buzzed with innovative ideas as each pitch unfolded.

Day 3: The Grand Finale!
Day 3 at the BRT Innovation Bootcamp marked the peak of our collective efforts. Teams hustled to finalise their prototypes, putting the finishing touches on their creative solutions for the Future of Food. Building, filming, and refining—everyone worked hard to showcase their ideas. 🍽️💡
The atmosphere was charged with anticipation as teams presented their innovations. Each pitch reflected an intesive 3 days of hard work and creative brainstorming. The solutions were impressive, earning applause and recognition for their inventiveness. 🏆
Congratulations echoed across the room, acknowledging not only the winners but the entire group for their dedication. These three days were a mix of collaboration, laughter, and a whirlwind of fresh ideas.

The course and experience are entirely free! However, you will need to cover your flight and hostel accommodation expenses.
